Eugène Ibig commenced his professional life as commercial executive in the petroleum industry. He subsequently decided to change his carrier, studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1981. Since 1983, he focuses his practice on international arbitration.
He has thus appeared as counsel and acted as arbitrator in more than 100 international arbitrations in Switzerland and other West and East-European venues, in disputes relating, among others, to energy contracts, shareholder agreements, M&A transactions, distribution and franchising agreements, commodity trading, engineering projects, governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Romania, Sweden, Ireland, India, Qatar, Tunisia, Libya, Congo, Guinea, etc.
He also frequently advises clients on arbitration-related matters and represents them before the Swiss Supreme Court in proceedings challenging arbitration awards.
