Swiss Competition Commission approves Swiss Post / NZZ Group / Tamedia Deal under conditions

The Swiss Competition Commission has approved the merger of the early newspaper distribution organisations of Swiss Post, NZZ Group and Tamedia subject to the condition that the merged entity is owned and controlled solely by Swiss Post. The Swiss Competition Commission considered that Swiss Post’s, NZZ’s and Tamedia’s intended joint control of the distribution organisation would foreclose the markets for early distribution services in Switzerland. Tamedia’s acquisition of a controlling stake in "search.ch" from Swiss Post was cleared without conditions.

Lenz & Staehelin advised the parties in phase I and phase II of the merger proceeding. The team of Lenz & Staehelin was led by Marcel Meinhardt and comprised Felix Prümmer and Nicolas Bonassi.
