MSCI acquires Swiss index provider Compass Financial Technologies SA

Lenz & Staehelin advised MSCI Inc. (NYSE: MSCI), a leading financial service provider best known for its indexes like MSCI World, on its acquisition of Swiss index provider Compass Financial Technologies SA, a specialist in index calculations of alternative and multi-asset classes like commodities and cryptocurrencies. The acquisition strengthens MSCI's abilities to create, calculate and customize indexes including a wide array of asset classes, integrating global equities, fixed income, commodities, digital assets, currencies and derivatives. Commercial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
