Innovation on Trial: Intellectual Property and International Arbitration
As part of Paris Arbitration Week (23 to 27 March 2026), Thierry Calame will speak on the panel on “Innovation on Trial: Intellectual Property and International Arbitration” on 24 March 2026 in Paris.
Intellectual property disputes are increasingly being resolved through international arbitration, reflecting the globalisation of innovation and the growing strategic importance of IP assets. In Europe, the forthcoming Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre (PMAC) of the Unified Patent Court will further expand the range of dispute resolution options for patent-related conflicts.
The panel will examine key challenges in arbitrating IP disputes, including arbitrability, validity and infringement, enforcement of awards, and differing jurisdictional approaches, as well as emerging trends and risks for parties.
