Lenz & Staehelin secures long-term safe harbor for Mastercard in Swiss competition law investigation

Last June, the Swiss Competition Commission ("ComCo") had opened an investigation into Mastercard's interchange fees for domestic card-present transactions applicable to its debit card products DebitMastercard and Maestro. In the meantime, Mastercard could reach a settlement with ComCo providing for a long-term safe harbor applicable to such debit card interchange fees.
